Expedition Cruises - ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS to add tonnage

ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS adds tonnage, the HANSEATIC of HAPAG-LLOYD CRUISES is obsollete in the fleet, when the two new expedition vessels will come in 2018. After years within the fleet of HAPAG-LLOYD as their 5star rated top expedition cruises vessel HANSEATIC has done its purpose. Now the aging lady, by many longed for to get the vessel, it looks like ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS has got the deal.

The intended RCGS RESOLUTE, actually HANSEATIC of HAPAG-LLOYD CRUISES - courtsey ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS
The bullish expedition cruise market will give us far more surprises, than only the new charterer for the well known HANSEATIC. The rising of demand took nearly all operators by surprise, despite in deep market researches. I question, if the vessel will be still the top 5star rated expedition cruise vessel in the future.

ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS will add with HANSEATIC, renamed as  RCGS RESOLUTE, a third expedition vessel for the 2018-2019 season, as the 146-passenger vessel will join the AKADEMIK IOFFE and AKADEMIK SERGEY VAVILO, a pair of Russian research vessels. This is the standard that ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS and its guests are used to ... not that luxurious. The vessels have the charm of a dorm from the 1990s. Okay HANSEATIC´s interior is similar "charming" 90s ...
Further HANSEATIC,  projected Royal Canadian Geographical Society RESOLUTE is lacking balcony cabins, which has become a standard in expedition cruises too.

RCGS RESOLUTE also carries the name of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS), since ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS and RCGS are exclusive education, environmental science, and expedition partners in Canada’s north. But why adding the prefix "RCGS"? I for myself can´t get this abbreviation craze ... it is reminding me of the wording used in the former GDR.

RCGS RESOLUTE is believed to be the current HANSEATIC, which will end its long-term charter agreement with HAPAG-LLOYD CRUISES in September of 2018. It is the first true cruise ship to be run under the ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS brand. HANSEATIC is owned by a citizen from Hamburg, who once had been a shareholder of the DEUTSCHE ATLANTIK LINIE - that company which sailed with the space ship HAMBURG from 1969 till 1973 across the seas. Mr. Polutta, the owner, named the vessel, when he bought it in Rauma, HANSEATIC. It was a sentimental move.
We have been looking for just the right vessel to expand our shipboard operations.  For the last two years we have experienced exponential growth and have seasons which have sold out across the breadth of our departures, in both Antarctica, the High Arctic and the East Coast of Canada,” said Andrew Prossin, Managing Director.
Named after the HMS RESOLUTE, a British Royal Navy Arctic exploration vessel, as well as the Inuit town of Resolute in Canada’s Nunavut Territory, RCGS RESOLUTE will arrive in Canada in November 2018 for its inaugural ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS polar voyage. “Built in Rauma, Finland, the same ship yard as AKADEMIK IOFFE and AKADEMIK SERGEY VAVILO, RCGS RESOLUTE offers modern stabilization and unsurpassed ice classification (Lloyds 1AS) compliant with the new Polar Code,” said ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS, in a prepared statement. “Between the three vessels, ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS is perfectly equipped with the right hardware to offer our full range of activities, guiding our adventurous guests on their quest to imagine, explore and discover the world’s most remote and awe inspiring regions.
The company currently operates the pair of Russian research vessels on charter agreements in Antarctica, the Arctic and the Canadian Arctic.
The Royal Canadian Geographical Society RESOLUTEmay be a suitable expedition vessel and the right addition for ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS, but I suspect in the market, which is nearly flodded by newbuildings of higher standard, the vessels of ONE OCEAN EXPEDITIONS are lacking compatability ... the destinations and cruise programs are no longer the luxury in itself.

Ocean Liners in Movies or Films at Sea (updated Nov 2017)

For liners and the shipping companies movies and films had been a top marketing tool Movies or Films and liners at sea, had been intriguing me since I have read about in my youth in LUXUSLINER - BILDER EINER GROSSEN ZEIT by Lee Server ( THE GOLDEN AGE OF OCEAN LINERS ). But earlier, mot only since my first crossing, I was keen watching movies with liners in it, and disapointed, which was an understatement, when I realized the films have been made in a set ashore in some movie "factory". That was after my first crossing.   by Earl of Cruise an essay in progress `Sabrina´, Humphrey Bogart in the office, while LIBERTÉ is sailing out of New York harbor - screenshot Ocean liners, especially those of the luxury category, had been the location of dramas, love stories, thrillers, suspense and catastrophies sinde film was born, or nearly. The real airliner LZ 129 HINDENBURG enabled the most luxurious airtravel for decades. Imagine, gliding through the air while the landscape or the sea below can be seen ... HISTORY - The CUNARD - WHITE STAR Liner rms QUEEN ELIZABETH (1938-1972)

Over years, in my early youth, the QUEEN ELIZABETH was shaping my mind for the perfect ocean liner, despite having made my first experiences with a liner onboard the HANSEATIC (1), ex EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND, ex EMPRESS OF JAPAN. When leaning at the rail of HANSEATIC entering the port, my eyes where every where and I wished to by a camera, I took all in. And when seeing the QUEEN ELIZABETH with my own eyes, the nice behaving young boy turned into a tomboy, that my grandmére was no longer able to tame ... I did draw quite a lot of looks, back then. I found, while on research, this article and thought it interesting publishing in my blog: written and published by John Sheperd at liverpoolships.org editing and comments by Earl of Cruise I ( John Shepard ) joined the CUNARD LINE in March 1962 as an Assistant Purser and sailed the QUEEN ELIZABETH throughout that year, before transferring to the Liverpool-based CARINTHIA in November, where I remained as Crew Purser for the next five
