Die Versenkung der rms LUSITANIA, Faszination und Katastrophe by Earl of Cruise Innerhalb des vergangenen April und in diesem Mai 2016 hatten wir zwei Jahrestage von geschichtlichen Ereignissen in der Seefahrt, welches jedes für sich einen weitreichenden Einfluss auf den Verlauf unserer Geschichte hatte. Eines geschah mitten im Frieden, und wird unter Historikern, weithin als der Beginn des Niederganges des Britischen Empires angesehen. Das andere, während des Urknalls des Ersten Weltkrieges, wird als das endgültige Ende einer alten Weltordnung. HISTORY - EUGENIO C. Liner to South America, liner and cruise icon

One of the icons amoung the cruise ships and liners is EUGENIO C. of LINEA C, later COSTA CRUISES by Earl of Cruise tn EUGENIO C. of LINEA C. steaming in her first years on the South Atlantic at full speed, 27 kts EUGENIO C. was one of these samples of pristine Italian design and quality, what was referred to as: "Give an Italian a piece of steel and he is forming the most beautiful art of." Unfortunately EUGENIO C. ended as so many liners and to cruise ships converted vessels in Alang in 2005. The Coasta family had its origin in the olive oil business and started its shipping business with a tanker. Even if not a success from the beginning, the family did stick to its move into the shipping busines. Over years, in my early youth, the QUEEN ELIZABETH was shaping my mind for the perfect ocean liner, despite having made my first experiences with a liner onboard the HANSEATIC (1), ex EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND, ex EMPRESS OF JAPAN. When leaning at the rail of HANSEATIC entering the port, my eyes where every where and I wished to by a camera, I took all in. And when seeing the QUEEN ELIZABETH with my own eyes, the nice behaving young boy turned into a tomboy, that my grandmére was no longer able to tame ... I did draw quite a lot of looks, back then.
