Der Kreuzfahrtmarkt 2015 stieg in Deutschland um 2,3% auf 1,81 Millionen Kreuzfahrtgäste auf Hochseeschiffen.

Erstaunlich gering, auf den ersten Blick, fiel im vergangenen Jahr die Steigerung der Passagierzahlen in Deutschland aus. Es hat aber einen simplen Grund. Dem Markt fehlten Bettenkapazitäten. Die DEUTSCHLAND fiel durch den Konkurs der Eigner aus, und die beiden AIDA Neubauten aus Japan sollten eigentlich viel früher für AIDA buchbar und im Einsatz sein und Gäste über das Meer tragen.
Allerdings legte  der Umsatz der Kreuzfahrtgesellschaften und Anbieter um 5,7% auf rund € 2,9 Milliarden, weil die Tagesrate um 4,9% auf € 181,86 von € 173,00 in 2014 (2013 € 171,00) stieg.
Bei den durchschnittlichen Reisepreisen fällt auf, dass bei Reedereien aus Deutschland durchschnittlich € 1.580,00 fällig werden, während es bei internationalen Reedereien € 1.331,00 sind. Weiter gesunken ist die durchschnittliche Reisedauer, von 8,83 Nächten auf 8,69 Nächte in 2015.
Laut Helge Grammerstorf von CLIA Deutschland, hat die Kreuzfahrt in Deutschland ein Luxusproblem. Sie kann die Nachfrage wegen ihrer Kapazitätsprobleme nicht decken. "Kreuzfahrten bleiben ein Kapazitätsgetriebener Markt." Helge Grammerstorf
Bis 2018 sollen fünf Neubauten, darunter die AIDA Neubauten aus Japan, mit 14.000 Betten kommen. Auch die DEUTSCHLAND kommt unter PHOENIX Ägide wieder zurück. Für 2016 rechnet die Branche mit über 2 Millionen Passagieren.
So will NCL bis 2020 die Zahl der deutschen Fahrgäste auf ihren Schiffen verdreifachen. Hierbei sollen das Premium-All-Inklusive-Konzept und Abfahrten in Deutschland beitragen. NCL fährt dabei wie AIDA im gleichen See- oder Zielgebiet. AIDA positioniert sich dabei als alternative zu landbasierten Urlaubsformen.
2014 veröffentlichte das Britische Magazin THE WORLD OF CRUISING einen Artikel, der kurz gefaßt sagte, dass man als Reeder oder Veranstalter so ziemlich alles bauen könne, was man wolle, die Kunden kommen und buchen.

Die Fahrtziele von deutschen Kreuzfahrern liegen zu 33,6% in Nordeuropa, den Britischen Inseln und der Ostsee. 31,2% bevorzugten für ihre Kreuzfahrten das Mittelmeer.
Für die Flussreisen gab es 2015 endlich, nach langer Durststrecke, wieder gute Zahlen. Laut DRV und IG RIVER CRUISE gingen 423.635 Passagiere auf Flusskreuzfahrtschiffen an Bord. Das bedeutet ein Plus von ~19% zum Vorjahr. Diese Steigerung ging einem Umsatzmehrerlös von 9,9%, oder € 39,5 Million einher - € 435,1 Millionen. Dieser Mehrumsatz wurde auch hier durch höhere Tagespreise erlöst.
