Digitization of NORMANDIE

Is the digitization of NORMANDIE, the construction and the art, a curse or a blessing?

I, for myself would opt for the blessing. The digitization might make someone hungry for la véritable œuvre d'art. And may open eyes of others ...

The artworks of NORMANDIE is scattered around the world in numerous private collections of afficionadios, who cherish and care for their collectibles, and various museums.
Since the devastating fire in February 1942, when NORMANDIE was tried to transfer into a trooper for the US NAVY, the vessel died like as in a Greek drama . First scene the fire at pier 88. Seconed scene a mortally wounded NORMANDIE laying in agony half drowned on startboard. Here NORMANDIE appeared like a gigantic wale stranded at the pier in the middle of Manhattan. Scene four is the rising with all its efforts of the doomed NORMANDIE, and then the ultimate final the scrapping.
But the very life of NORMANDIE was like a Greek drama ... whom the gods love ...
The interiors and artworks of NORMANDIE had been ripped out, stored somewhere, partly destroyed by male handling, later autioned off, cut in pieces to be fitted in other vessels, churches of private homes, or saved by museums. It was happening when ART DECO was considered as "old fashioned" and no longer "modern", or compared simply false with the former dictatorian regimes style the world did fight in WWII.
It is a sheer herculian task preventing a former glorious liner as a museum, or a hotel. There has to be found a new role for these iconic vessels. We have only three left. One dramatically necklegted in Long Beach - the QUEEN MARY. In Rotterdam the ROTTERDAM. And HIKAWA MARU in Yokohama. The later two with fortune and future and the first with a long time of mishandling.
NORMANDIE as the the epitome of Art Deco, interior and exterior needs a 3D rebuilding!
In such a NORMANDIE rebuild all the fineries, the glitz, the artworks and construction details, including the mashine room can be showcased. Each who want, can experience, by walking around the decks or through the rooms of NORMANDIE, `Le Vaisseu de Lumière´, the Ship of Light.
Seeing all of NORMANDIE put back together, will bring `La Deesse de la Mer´ back again to life. This marvel, which is a treasure of human art and engineering is belonging to all of mankind.
What is needed for? Detailed deck plans, room configurations, tons of photographies, 3D scans of furniture and fixtures ... and a lot of time and patience to get a result in the end.
On the right side of this article is a poll.
Those who are interested, please, may take their time and look at and participate please, as the marvel of the 20th century Transatlantic transportation, as some quote as the ideal, the perfect, ocean liner, le NORMANDIE will be digitized and revitalized in 3D.

Ocean Liners in Movies or Films at Sea (updated Nov 2017)

For liners and the shipping companies movies and films had been a top marketing tool Movies or Films and liners at sea, had been intriguing me since I have read about in my youth in LUXUSLINER - BILDER EINER GROSSEN ZEIT by Lee Server ( THE GOLDEN AGE OF OCEAN LINERS ). But earlier, mot only since my first crossing, I was keen watching movies with liners in it, and disapointed, which was an understatement, when I realized the films have been made in a set ashore in some movie "factory". That was after my first crossing.   by Earl of Cruise an essay in progress `Sabrina´, Humphrey Bogart in the office, while LIBERTÉ is sailing out of New York harbor - screenshot Ocean liners, especially those of the luxury category, had been the location of dramas, love stories, thrillers, suspense and catastrophies sinde film was born, or nearly. HISTORY - The CUNARD - WHITE STAR Liner rms QUEEN ELIZABETH (1938-1972)

Over years, in my early youth, the QUEEN ELIZABETH was shaping my mind for the perfect ocean liner, despite having made my first experiences with a liner onboard the HANSEATIC (1), ex EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND, ex EMPRESS OF JAPAN. When leaning at the rail of HANSEATIC entering the port, my eyes where every where and I wished to by a camera, I took all in. And when seeing the QUEEN ELIZABETH with my own eyes, the nice behaving young boy turned into a tomboy, that my grandmére was no longer able to tame ... I did draw quite a lot of looks, back then. I found, while on research, this article and thought it interesting publishing in my blog: written and published by John Sheperd at liverpoolships.org editing and comments by Earl of Cruise I ( John Shepard ) joined the CUNARD LINE in March 1962 as an Assistant Purser and sailed the QUEEN ELIZABETH throughout that year, before transferring to the Liverpool-based CARINTHIA in November, where I remained as Crew Purser for the next five...
