FRAM und NORDNORGE - eine Stippvisite auf HURTIGRUTEN Schiffen

Der Empfang im Aussichtssalon ist kurz, informativ und unterhaltsam. Sowohl in Hamburg auf der neuen FRAM, wie auch an Bord der NORDNORGE in Kiel.
Die HURTIGRUTEN traten früh schon gezielt auf dem internationalen Markt auf. Sie vermarkteten ihre Küsten Post- und Personenverkehre als besonderes Erlebnis. Es ist wirklich ein berauschendes Gefühl, wenn einer dieser Postschiffe in einen der Fjorde hineinträgt.  
Aus der Not heraus, weil die Postsubventionen nicht mehr durch das Königreich Norwegen gezahlt werden würden, sahen sich die unter der gemeinsamen "Brand" (aus dem engl., Bedeutung: Marken Name) HURTIGRUTEN segelnden Reedereien im Küstenverkehr Norwegens, gezwungen sich ein neues zusätzliches Publikum zu suchen. Fracht und Post sollten und wollten sie zwar weiterhin befördern, nur eben nicht mehr subventioniert - das entsprechende Gesetz lief aus. Die bis 1965 gebauten Schiffe entsprachen keineswegs den internationalen Standars. Neue Schiffe, die dem internationalen Publikum angeboten werden können, wurden bestellt. Die neuen, "karibisierten" Schiffe dafür lassen Puristen das "Herz bluten".
Zudem setzte eine Konsolidierung ein, so dass am Ende nur ein Betreiber und Eigner vorhanden ist, der sich nun als HURTIGRUTEN bezeichnet.
Mit den neuen Schiffe gingen die Reeder konsequent "auf Karibik Kurs". Da heißt die Schiffe könnten so ohne weiteres auch als kleine Einheiten in der Karibik schippern, oder irgendeinem anderen Meer.
Und da man immer schon den "Expeditionscharakter" dieser Norwegen Küstenfahrt betont hatte, lag es nahe auch ein ebensolches Schiff in den internationalen Ring zu werfen - die FRAM.
Benannt nach dem Polarforschungsschiff des berühmten Norwegers Fridtjof Nansen, durchkreuzt nun die FRAM die expeditionstauglichen Meere dieser Welt.
Später folgten andere Einheiten, besonders nach der Finanz- und Wirtschaftskrise 2007/08, als die spendierfreudigen US Amerikaner vor Norwegens Küsten erst mal ausblieben.
Allerdings sind die neuen Schiffe der HURTIGRUTEN immer noch recht "enge Veranstaltungen", wenn man sich die eigentlich im Fährstandard angebotnen Kabinen anschaut.
Einige Schaulustige an Bord der NORDNORGE entließen gar: "... und dafür nehmen die so viel Geld?" Gut solch eine Reise ist nicht ganz billig, und eigentlich nur etwas für "erfahrene Kreuzfahrer".
Platz ist in den Gesellschaftsräumen der neuen Schiffen sicherlich, aber die Kabinen sind in der Tat etwas "eng". Das liegt wohl auch mit daran, dass man auf 110 bis 130m Schiffslänge immer noch gut 600 bis 700 Gäste unterbringt ...

The PACIFIC MAIL STEAMSHIP COMANY was existing for "just" one hundred years and was in her heydays a backbone for the development of the US West. The PACIFIC MAIL STEAMSHIP COMPANY was founded April 18, 1848, as a joint stock company under the laws of the State of New York by a group of New York City merchants, William H. Aspinwall , Edwin Bartlett, Henry Chauncey, Mr. Alsop, G.G. Howland and S.S. Howland. These merchants had acquired the right to transport mail under contract from the United States Government from the Isthmusof Panama to California awarded in 1847 to one Arnold Harris.
