CRYSTAL CRUISES is named the best luxury cruise company (`line´) by US NEWS. CRYSTAL SYMPHONY´s now max 848 guests onboard are served by now 566 engaged crew member. The crew considered to be the finest shipboard staff afloat. It is their goal to anticipate your every need and to make this a vacation to remember.
With this conversion CRYSTAL is the first luxury cruise company that is reducing its passenger capacity on board a ship, instead of squeezing in more passengers.
CRYSTAL still names not all accomodations "suites" but name them what they are "staterooms" a factthat other luxury and so called luxury companies ignore for their ships, to make them "greater" as they are. These staterooms (19m² and 23m²) are as well outfitted with the luxurious standard of CRYSTAL, as the suites and penthouses. Some of the suites but are still not real suites, but vast staterooms, but far better styled and equipped than other self proclaimed luxury companies do.
CRUISES CRUISES is an All-Inclusive offer:
Enjoy unlimited and free exquisite wines, cocktails, aperitifs, digestifs and even champagne on board. The minibar in your cabin is also refilled free of charge.
All tips on board are already included in your travel price.
CRYSTAL SYMPHONY - The Evolution of CRYSTAL Luxury
On September 23rd, the CRYSTAL SYMPHONY, built in Finland 1995, arrived in front of the large Kaiserdock II of the LLOYD WERFT shipyard. The luxury ship arrived September 23trd to remain in Bremerhaven until October 16th for a conversion costing several million euros. However, the order was split up: The interior fittings are carried out directly by CRYSTAL CRUISES or its partner companies. LLOYD WERFT is responsible for the shipbuilding activities and the entire logistical handling of this order. In addition to a large number of LLOYD WERFT employees, several hundred crew members and subcontractors had been working on the shipyard premises in the last few weeks.
In addition to the regular maintenance work for the ship's operation, the ship not only received two new restaurants with a current capacity for 922 passengers until 16 October, but also the technical prerequisites for free WLAN on board will be created. In addition, every cabin is equipped with ultra-thin 42-inch screens. Some of the smaller cabins on deck 9 are converted into luxurious penthouse suites with butler service. A total of 40 new suites with an area of between 34 and 45 square metres was built, reducing passenger capacity to 848 guests as a result of this conversion, CRYSTAL SERENITY, which has been in operation since 2003, is scheduled for a similar major overhaul in the autumn of 2018, although this work has not yet been put out to tender, but it could be LLOYD WERFT again.CRYSTAL SYMPHONY´s new deck plan/laayout and stateroom/suite make over - courtesy CRYTAL CRUISES |

Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-large business. at sea Cruising The Scenic Inside Passage
Protected from the open sea by forested isles, sheltered from the windy mainland by the tallest coastal mountains in the world, this 1,000-mile waterway seems custom-made by nature for a cruise. The deep, calm waters of the passage meander between dense pine forests where wild game abounds, with occasional rustic towns along the way.

Ketchikan's economy is based upon government services, tourism and
commercial fishing. Civic boosters have dubbed the community the "Salmon Capital of the World." The Misty Fiords National Monument is one of the area's major attractions, and the Tongass National Forest has long been headquartered in Ketchikan, mostly in the city's historic Federal Building. For most of the latter half of the 20th century, a large portion of Ketchikan's economy and life centered on the Ketchikan Pulp Company pulp mill in nearby Ward Cove.
The mill closed in 1997 in the wake of the passage of the Tongass
Timber Reform Act of 1990, which reduced timber harvest targets in the
national forest.Ketchikan has the world's largest collection of standing totem poles, found throughout the city and at four major locations: Saxman Totem Park, Totem Bight State Park, Potlatch Park, and the Totem Heritage Center.
Most of the totems at Saxman Totem Park and Totem Bight State Park are
recarvings of older poles, a practice that began during the Roosevelt Administration through the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Totem Heritage Center displays preserved 19th-century poles rescued from abandoned village sites near Ketchikan.Ketchikan Totem Pole - Source: Wikipedia |
Juneau, Alaska
The City and Borough of Juneau (ˈdʒuːnoʊ JOO-noh; Tlingit: Dzánti K'ihéeni [ˈtsántʰì kʼìˈhíːnì]), commonly known as Juneau, is the capital city of Alaska. It is a unified municipality located on the Gastineau Channel in the Alaskan panhandle, and it is the second largest city in the United States by area.Aerial view of Downtown Juneau, the cruise ship port, and Douglas Island from the Mount Roberts Tramway - Source: Wikipedia |
Juneau is rather unusual among U.S. capitals (except Honolulu, Hawaii) in that there are no roads connecting the city to the rest of Alaska or to the rest of North America (although ferry service is available for cars). So, not really the location for a `road movie´. The absence of a road network is due to the extremely rugged terrain surrounding the city. This in turn makes Juneau a de facto island city in terms of transportation, since all goods coming in and out must go by plane or boat, in spite of the city being located on the Alaskan mainland. Downtown Juneau sits at sea level, with tides averaging 16 feet (5 m), below steep mountains about 3,500 feet (1,100 m) to 4,000 feet (1,200 m) high. Atop these mountains is the Juneau Icefield, a large ice mass from which about 30 glaciers flow; two of these, the Mendenhall Glacier and the Lemon Creek Glacier, are visible from the local road system. The global warming has its impact already, the Mendenhall Glacier, as the Lemon Creek Glacier, has been gradually retreating; its front face is declining both in width and height. It may be an interesting visit at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

In Juneau is a number nature parks as Point Bridget State Park, Eagle Beach State recreation Area, Ernest Gruening State Historical Park, Wickersham State Historic Site (Juneau Area Parks Brochure PDF).
Hoonah, Alaska
The Tlingit people gave Hoonah not only its name, which means “where the north wind doesn’t blow, - but also an interesting culture and history with roots going back hundreds of years. Today, carvings and totem sites, including the Huna Tribal House Carving Project in the middle of town, present local legends in fascinating color and detail. Located in Alaska’s panhandle 30 miles west of Juneau, Hoonah also offers an abundance of what this northerly clime is known for: scenery and wildlife.Grizzly doing wellness ashore - courtesy rp-online |
Skagway, Alaska
Discover the flavor of the gold rush era in Skagway. In its heyday, this atmospheric frontier town was the largest in Alaska. During the height of the gold boom, Skagway was known as the gateway to the goldfields at the Klondike River, and its population went from 2 to 10,000 in a single year. At one time it boasted 80 saloons and was known as the "roughest town on earth." Although its population is now less than 1,000, its rip-roaring past will come alive as you stroll along Broadway or browse through the Trail of '98 Museum's outstanding collection of memorabilia.at sea Cruising Tracy Arm
You leave Sakagway and sail into the Gulf of Alaska to Glacier Bay National Park, only accessible by ship or airplane. You sail with CRYSTAL SYMPHONY close to the glaciers there. Breathtakingly beautiful!
You sail towards ice floes, in the distance, you hear a thunder - pieces of ice break off from the Gletcher and fall into the depths of the sea.
On ice floes, a Baldeagle and seagulls may float towards you and you think "I could write poems professionally".
Forty-five miles outside of Juneau, this scenic destination has it all — mammoth glaciers, towering granite walls, breathtaking mountains, waterfalls, and a large variety of wildlife. Tracy Arm is a 30-mile long fjord - a narrow inlet created by glacial activity - formed thousands of years ago. It winds its way past 7,000-foot snow-capped mountains and floating icebergs. At the end of the fjord lies the stunning Sawyer Glaciers, translucent blue mountains rising majestically out of the water. About once every hour, the North Sawyer and South Sawyer glaciers “calve” - an awe-inspiring phenomena in which large chunks of ice tumble into the sea below.

This stunning amphitheater of glaciers and granite peaks is best viewed from the sea. The ice in Glacier Bay fell as snow centuries ago on the mountains that ring the bay. Compressed by its own tremendous weight, it flows seaward, producing some of the fastest-moving glaciers known. Sitka, Alaska
The symmetrical cone of Mount Edgecumbe (Putauaki) and countless green-tufted islands welcome CRYSTAL SYMPHONY to picturesque Sitka. In its heyday, when Sitka was the capital of the Russian province in the New World, it was referred to as the "Paris of the Pacific" and known for its great prosperity. the city was founded by Alexander Baranof in 1799. It wasn't until 1867, when Alaska was purchased by the United States, when Russia lost "its interest" in this part of the world. Russia was facing a bancrupcy after the lost Crimean war and needed money. Stars and Stripes replaced the Russian flag.As Russia's former capital in the New World, Sitka still retains its exotic heritage, boasting proud architecture and unique historical sites.
