SILVER MUSE is a showcase in elegant Italian craftsmanship and luxurious interior ship design. And you can feel the Italian heritage of SILVERSEA in ech corner of the new ship. SILVERSEA CRUISES´ SILVER MUSE features a host of luxury suite accommodations, including Veranda Suites, Owner’s Suite, Grand Suite, Royal Suite and Silver Suite - a two-bedroom option that is the best you actually get onboard a cruise ship. The style onboard SILVER MUSE is of elegant restraint, in delicate pastel shades and with a touch of Italian chic and Parisian nonchalence, SILVER MUSE appeals to all those cruise passengers who attach importance to tradition but shy away from the slightly dusty image of old-established ships or those with the big WOW. This WOW effect is unfortunately seen too in the luxury market - a total non understanding of true luxury.

SILVER MUSE is an evolution out of SILVER SPIRIT, but the exterior design is reminding me of SEABOURN OVATION and ENCORE - honi soit qui mal y pense - both companies signed their construction contracts with FINCANTIERI ... and we all know about the platform strategies to reduce cost in the hardware construction. The new luxury ship try to combine the intimacy of a private yacht with the balanced offer of the "big ones". The 286 suites with private butler service are absolutely timeless and the range of services on board selects the best and most sensible from all areas: entertainment of the highest standard, readings by top-class experts, specialities from kitchens around the world and RELAIS & CHÂTEAUX®, which offer something fine for every taste, plus selected wellness treatments in the spa area.

The atmosphere on board
On board the Silver Muse, English is spoken mainly. Passengers are international, with a strong following from Great Britain, so far only a few German and German speaking guests have discovered these cruises for themselves. During the day you can dress elegantly and sporty and adapt to the weather. During a one-week trip there are two formal evenings (dark suit or tuxedo or cocktail dress are recommended). The age of the guests is mixed, but mostly 45 years and older. There are very few children on board, and the ship therefore is quite quiet.

HISTORY - The CUNARD - WHITE STAR Liner rms QUEEN ELIZABETH (1938-1972)

Over years, in my early youth, the QUEEN ELIZABETH was shaping my mind for the perfect ocean liner, despite having made my first experiences with a liner onboard the HANSEATIC (1), ex EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND, ex EMPRESS OF JAPAN. When leaning at the rail of HANSEATIC entering the port, my eyes where every where and I wished to by a camera, I took all in. And when seeing the QUEEN ELIZABETH with my own eyes, the nice behaving young boy turned into a tomboy, that my grandmére was no longer able to tame ... I did draw quite a lot of looks, back then. I found, while on research, this article and thought it interesting publishing in my blog: written and published by John Sheperd at liverpoolships.org editing and comments by Earl of Cruise I ( John Shepard ) joined the CUNARD LINE in March 1962 as an Assistant Purser and sailed the QUEEN ELIZABETH throughout that year, before transferring to the Liverpool-based CARINTHIA in November, where I remained as Crew Purser for the next five
